Project: Women in Action
Women beneficiaries of women’s organizations in Belgrade who participate in intensive educational program for the profession of yoga instructors start with their community activities.
The Project “Women in Action – Women leaders in the local community as Yoga Instructors” is being conducted in year 2014 by Yoga Federation of Serbia in partnership with the Women Against Violence Network and with supported of The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Belgrade. Within the one-year long project it is implemented vocational training for twelve women for the profession of yoga instructor at the International Yoga Academy in Belgrade.
This project actively contribute to personal and professional development women participants, encouraging them to take proactive approach becoming leaders in local communities, reaching economic stability and independence by leading local yoga classes.
During July and August women members of the student group “Women in Action” are preparing and conducting their first group and public yoga classes.
Also, women start co-leading public yoga classes within the action “Exercise yoga with us” at the Yoga Park at Belgrade Ada in organization of Yoga Federation of Serbia. This action gathers a great number of yoga admirers each year.
Within weekend yoga excursion to Avala, organized by the Yoga Federation of Serbia on August 10th , students successfully assisted in the conduct of public yoga class.
One member of the student group conduct independently the first yoga classes within the seminar “Integrated Security” which Network of Women Against Violence organized for their members on the island of Brac, Croatia in the period from 3rd to 14th July.

Project “Women in action” is implemented by Yoga Federation of Serbia in partnership with Women against violence Network with support of The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Belgrade.
Within the one-year project will be implemented vocational training for the profession of yoga instructor for twelve women, the third level of qualification, using the available resources of the International Yoga academic center in Belgrade.
Yoga Federation of Serbia will support the launch of an independent yoga activities, or establishment of yoga clubs in collaboration with women’s organizations. Professional training program for yoga instructor is conducted in accordance with the law and international yoga standards and implemented by a professional team of renowned lecturers.
CLOSING CEREMONY “WOMEN LEADERS IN LOCAL COMMUNITY”
Within the conference “Women leaders in local community” were promoted 12 women who grew out of vulnerable position of women victims of violence to the leaders, yoga instructors who run their activities on their way of achieving economic independence and social inclusion.
Twelve women received certificates of acquired title in sports – yoga instructor.
This public event organized by the Yoga Federation of Serbia and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce on 12th November 2014 brought together representatives of the various stakeholders, international donors, government institutions, civil society organizations and the media interested in giving support to women victims of violence.
The conference was organized as a closing gala event of the project “Women in Action” conducted by Yoga Federation of Serbia, in cooperation with the Network of Women Against Violence and supported by The Royal Norwegian Embassy.
Conference guests were addressed by: His Excellency, the Ambassador of Norway, Mr. Nils Ragnar Kamsvag, Senior Adviser in the Department of Sport, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mrs. Zorica Arsenic Jovanovic, Secretary of the Union of Entrepreneurs Serbia, Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Svetozar Babic, Secretary general of Yoga Federation of Serbia, Mrs. Vera Milicevic, Activist from the Network of Women against Violence, Mrs. Aleksandra Nestorov, and Coordinator of the project “Women in Action” in front of Yoga federation of Serbia, Mrs. Marijana Rodic.
Also, conference guests were addressed by representatives of a group of women who have undergone the program of Yoga academy. They have expressed how much they needed this kind of support, how happy they are being empowered to work further on improving their positions, personally and professionally accomplished.
At the conference was premiered the film “Women in Action – Women leders in local community”, which presented the problem of gender-based discrimination and violence against women, as well as access to the solution of this problem that is developed by Yoga Federation of Serbia.
Yoga Federation of Serbia present the importance of gaining personal and professional skills through educational program of Yoga Academy, as well as the importance of the certificates women participants have received.
